CISCO ROUTERS
This course has been designed to provide an introduction to the operation and configuration of Cisco Routers. Delegates will learn the fundamentals of Cisco Internetwork Operating System (IOS) as used on low to mid range router products.
Prerequisites
A basic knowledge of TCP/IP.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this class, participants will be able to:
- Describe the operation of Cisco Routers running IOS software.
- Configure a Cisco Router for Routing Services.
- Utilise basic IOS verification commands such as Show, Debug and Ping.
- Save Router Configuration Files to a Network Server.
- Save Router Configuration Files to Disk.

Network Support Technicians, Administrators, Technical Managers and Support Staff who need basic practical knowledge on Cisco Router operation and configuration.
Course Outline
- Make a physical connection to the Router Console port.
- Configure a serial interface with the appropriate IOS commands.
- Provide the router with the appropriate Password Protection.
- Configure Ethernet interfaces for connection to the LAN.
- Configure Loopback interfaces for testing.
- Configure the Router to run Routing Services using a Distance-Vector routing protocol.
- Configure the Router to run Routing Services using Cisco’s Hybrid routing protocol EIGRP.
- Configure a PC to connect to the Local Area Network.
This course has been designed as an introduction to Cisco Routers and the Internetwork Operating System (IOS). It provides delegates with ‘hands on’ exposure to to Cisco Routing Devices. Key learning points from the practical session will be highlighted and discussed throughout the session.
