INTRODUCTION TO CISCO CATALYST SWITCHES AND ROUTERS
This course has been designed to provide an introduction to the operation and configuration of both Cisco Catalyst Switches and Cisco Routers running Cisco Internetwork Operating System (IOS).
Prerequisites
A basic knowledge of TCP/IP and Datacomms.

- Describe the operation of Cisco Catalyst Switches running IOS software.
- Understand the startup routines for Cisco Routers and Catalyst Switches running IOS.
- Confidently utilise various open and proprietary protocols to effectively manage switches and routers.
- Configure and interrogate Layer 2 devices for basic operation.
- Configure a Cisco 2950 catalyst switch for basic VLAN operation.
- Understand the importance of loop avoidance mechanisms utilizing IEEE 802.1d and 802.1w.
- Configure basic Port Security on Cisco Catalyst switches running IOS.
- Configure PortFast, UplinkFast and BpduGuard features.
- Configure and verify Fast Etherchannel Trunks.
- Provide inter-vlan routing with a ‘Router on a Stick’.
- Configure basic routing services with RIP and IGRP.
- Configure OSPF in a single area.
- Configure OSPF in multiple areas.
- Configure EIGRP with VLSM (Variable Length Subnet Masks) and summarization.
- Manage traffic flow with basic Access Control Lists (ACLs)
